Wooley Dutton - Statement

“Images emerge from my own life experience and surroundings. I am fascinated by the "feeling" of a situation — the depth of a personality, of a life being fully lived at the crossroads of humanity. Energizing a composition through blazing color brings me joy. No matter what I am painting, the goal is always the same --- Push it to the max.”

WOOLEY DUTTON: INTERSECTION Solo exhibition

Jessica Hagen Fine Art + Design is pleased to announce another great collaboration with Hammetts Hotel in Newport! WOOLEY DUTTON: INTERSECTION a solo exhibition, will open with a reception in the hotel’s Sarah Langley Gallery on Thursday July 16, from 5:00- 7:00pm. The exhibition features new paintings by Jamestown, RI artist Wooley Dutton. Wooley spent her youth largely in England and Australia, was educated in the Mid-West with an apprenticeship in Mexico and achieved career success in Boston. Her career focus has been exclusively in the world of visual arts integrating branding and communications development. There is undeniable joie de vivre in the work of Wooley Dutton. The color palette is uplifting, the subject matter compelling, her paintings are a joyous expression of a long love affair with the visual arts. For the last thirteen years, Ms.Dutton’s visual acuity has been, and is, focused on painting, immersed in the exploration of color play, personalities, and the environment. Far from mere impulse, each painting is carefully constructed and worked through attentively so that the viewer is not just a visitor, but a guest. To linger with her work is always to leave reluctantly but uplifted. Dutton’s credentials include numerous awards in the commercial sphere. Her work by commission and acquisition is held in many private collections. Wooley Dutton states,

“Energizing a composition through blazing color brings me joy. No matter what I am painting, the goal is always the same --- Push it to the max.”
