Jessica Hagen Fine Art + Design is pleased to announce the opening of Every Picture Tells a Story on September 23, 2023, from 5:00- 7:00pm. The show spotlights the paintings of Orlando Almanza, a Cuban artist living and working in the Pacific Northwest. The artist’s rich, narrative work came to the attention of Jessica Hagen in the fall of 2022 when he was working as the artist in residence at the Newport Art Museum. The artist will be teaching a workshop on visual story telling at the museum during his upcoming visit to Newport, as well as working with Conexcion Latina Newport on the first ever Festival Latino. (These two organizations can be contacted directly for all the details.) In addition to Orlando Almanza’s work, the show will also include paintings by Lorraine Mainelli, Greg Sampl and Tom Vieth. Each artist brings their unique story to the viewer through the use of different painting styles and subject matter. Jessica Hagen states, “This exhibition is visually rich and varied. All four artists are highly skilled and incredibly creative. Shown together, the work is super-charged by the contrasting styles of paint handling and expression.” Every Picture Tells a Story is on display through October 22, 2023.

Jessica Hagen Fine Art + Design was founded in 2005 and features contemporary art including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, textiles, and jewelry. Located in the historic Point section of Newport, the gallery’s hours are Wednesday through Saturday 11:00-5:00 and Sunday 12:00-5:00. Monday and Tuesday, the gallery is open by appointment.
