ABOUT BREE MAXWELL

Bree Maxwell got the clay bug early. She was introduced to her first ceramics class at Springfield College, and was completely hooked. She couldn’t put the clay down or stop imagining all the forms it could take.

After graduating with an art minor, Bree continued studying ceramics at SUNY New Paltz and the University of Colorado Boulder, building her skills across both functional and sculptural work. Clay stayed at the center of everything, even as her path moved through different places and experiences.

Today, Bree Maxwell teaches ceramics at Springfield College, and that commitment to education, experimentation, and material exploration is at the heart of everything she does. As an artist and an educator, she is deeply interested in helping people experience the full range of ceramics — from craft to fine art, from useful objects to expressive, conceptual forms.
